Introduction

An electronic portfolio is a site compiled with many documents. Through this electronic portfolio, I am going to share my practice teaching experience with the world. The electronic portfolio has several sections that include my teaching philosophy, lesson plans, and evidence of teaching, teacher work sample, and reflections. The main purpose of this electronic portfolio is to share information on my practice teaching experience. I want to be of help to other practice teachers and even formal teachers. This blog may help future teachers and formal teachers in a future because they can use my techniques in order to achieve effective classes. Also, this blog can serve as a tool for formal teacher to achieve their highest potential by using my ideas. I want this blog to become meritorious because of all the rich and useful information. To wrap it up I will reflect on all the activities, classes, and projects I do with my students. These reflections will help me improve my weak spots and also know my strengths. The last objective and goal I have for this blog is for it to become in a future my professional portfolio where I can share my experiences out in the field!

A common question many people ask me is why did I choose to become a teacher? This is simple; I believed I was born to help others grow in some way and what better way than intellectually. I decided to pursue this profession in order to change any society I step into. Through my classes, I want my students to become rational human beings. I want to engage my students into finding beauty in language as well as in literature. In Puerto Rico, I want break away from the common thoughts of English students that don’t like the language and enamor them with the language. I want to operationalize my knowledge with every person that steps into my life and push them into achieving excellence in everything they do. Education is the core of every society and I am satisfied to know I am forming part of this core. Teachers form leaders and leaders form societies.. I am proud of forming part of this group of professionals who shape our world. Finally, becoming a teacher is a 24/7 job but I believe this profession is the most rewarding. Through this profession, I know I will live a life full of emotional satisfaction because I am contributing with the future of my world.

Autobiography

 My full name is Kimberly Marie Thomas and I was born in Miami Florida on February 6th of 1991. I am Daughter of Joseph John Thomas and Sandra Ivelise Ramos and sister of a brother named Christian John Thomas and an older sister Tatiana Marie Thomas. I was born in Miami but raised in Puerto Rico. When I was around 5 years old my parents decided to move to Puerto Rico. I studied my elementary levels in Fajardo at the elementary school named Gabino Soto. I studied my junior high level in Fajardo as well at the Antonio Valero de Bernabe, where I first discovered my passion for dancing. I started high school in Puerto Rico but because of family issues I movesd to Oklahoma. At Oklahoma, I studied my junior and senior year of high school at the Eisenhower High School.Being in Oklahoma I had to attend an ESL class from which I will be helped in any area needed. That’s when I discovered I also had a passion for teaching. In many ways teachers had influenced positively in my life and that assured my passion. At Oklahoma, I continued dancing and helping other students in the ESL class by passing on my knowledge and skills to teach. I graduated high school with honors and got accepted to the management program at the University of Puerto Rico at Humacao. After my first year of college, I reclassified to the English program which I knew from the start that will be my long life profession. A few years later, I gave birth to a beautiful daughter named Kalyah Elisse which is my main strength to keep on going.Now eager to finish this new stage in my life I am focusing on my future as an English teacher. Hoping to open new horizons to people of different ages, nationalities and religions and fulfill my dream.
